The estate was developed more seriously by its next owner, Baron Pierre de Pichard, who bought the château in 1742. The French Revolution proved fatal for the baron, who was guillotined in 1794, while his estate was seized by the Republic. It was bought by Lafaurie, who worked to improve the quality of the wine. the quality of the wine, which led to its consecration in 1855 as one of the first grands crus in the official Bordeaux wine classification. The château has gone through several owners, up to Silvio Dens since 2014, president of Cristallerie Lalique.
