The winemaker
Chateau La Couspaude is undoubtedly the flagship Aubert vineyards for over a century. The Couspaude named La Croix Paute which still punctuates the crossroads bordering the entrance area and is a meeting point for pilgrims journeying to Saint Jacques de Compostela. In 1974, civil society operating Aubert vineyards is created and it is Jean-Claude Aubert, the youngest of three son of Edith Aubert who takes the lead. In 1996 the castle Couspaude reinstate the category Great classified growths, rank he held until now. The Castle is the Couspaude on the north coast of the name, not far from the town of Saint-Emilion. The vineyard boasts a clay and limestone soil on very even rocky limestone base. The grape varieties are dominated by 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% with Cabernet Sauvignon. This unique terroir, one of the few located on the limestone plateau outside the village of Saint Emilion, produced a grand cru internationally renowned subtle and mellow aromas.
