The winemaker
The Château Haut-Batailley vineyard
Château Haut-Batailley comprises some forty hectares of vineyards. Only 22 hectares are still in production, with vines averaging 35 years of age. The terroir's Garonne gravels favor the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The quality of these wines enabled the estate to be classified 5th Grand Cru in 1855.
