The winemaker

Located in Blanquefort (15 km from Bordeaux) in the Médoc regional nature park, Château Grand Clapeau Olivier has been a family-run wine estate for 4 generations. The gravelly soil surrounding a small Carthusian monastery built in the late 19th century and overlooking the canton is ideal for growing vines.

Made up of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot noir and 3% Petit Verdot, the 35-hectare vineyard is cultivated in the purest Haut-Médoc tradition. After manual and mechanical harvesting (depending on the plot), all our wines are made by traditional vinification: total destemming, must fermentation in vats, fermentation temperature maintained between 28° and 30°C, three daily pump-overs. A long vatting period and ageing in oak barrels ensure a well-balanced wine.

The estate is certified to level 3 of the High Environmental Value standard.
