Château Du Cros • Famille Boyer
(10 customer reviews)
The Boyer family is based at Château du Cros, a famous sweet wine estate on the banks of the Garonne in the commune of Loupiac, 40 kilometers south of Bordeaux.
Independent winegrowers, the Boyer family vineyards also include Château Haut-Mayne in Cérons.
The vineyards are run by Catherine Boyer, the fourth generation of the family. She is one of the few women entrepreneurs in the Bordeaux wine industry. She applies the family philosophy of "Tradition, Quality and Know-How".
The history of Château du Cros is closely linked to that of English Guyenne.
In 1196, Richard the Lionheart, then King of England, ordered the construction of the Cros estate, now known as the Vieux Château du Cros. Perched on a hilltop overlooking the left bank of the Garonne River in Bordeaux, it offers an exceptional view of the Gironde, from the city of Bordeaux to the Landes forest.
This vineyard is one of the few in the Bordeaux region to exploit a 1 ha parcel that is one hundred years old (1907). It is produced on the best vintages, 3000 bottles only, called "Cuvée Tradition", a true golden nectar.
With nearly 75 hectares of vineyards and a dozen Bordeaux, Graves and sweet wines, the Boyer vineyards offer a wide range of wines for tasting at Château du Cros. Find out more
