The winemaker
Château de Villegeorge stands on 12.32 hectares of vines in the Haut-Médoc region. From the outset, the estate was recognized as one of Bordeaux's great estates, rivaling the third-ranked Grands Crus classés. However, it was not until 1932 and 1966 that the estate received the distinction of Cru Exceptionnel. But it was not this classification that convinced Lucien Lurton to acquire the estate in 1973, but rather its deep gravel terroir. His daughter took up the torch in 1992 and converted the estate to a more responsible approach (Terra Vitis accreditation), while continuing the work of the predecessors who had tilled these lands before her.
