The winemaker

Château de l'Hospital was built in 1787 by Jean-Jacques Fournier de la Chapelle, a royal advisor and husband of Anne-Catherine de l'Hospital, whose family has been producing wine on these lands for several decades. The estate therefore has more than two centuries of history, which is why it became a listed historic monument in 1973.

After several years of abandonment, the château was bought by Florent and Britgitte Battistella in 2012. They then had the ambition to restore the castle while switching to organic farming. It was therefore a question of finding a balance between the heritage of this historic monument and modernity. Today the vineyard is certified in organic farming and promotes biodiversity in the vines in order to create a real ecosystem that replaces phytosanitary products.
