The winemaker
It produces critically acclaimed red and white wines that have won numerous awards from the most demanding experts, including Gault & Millau, Bettane & Desseauve, Wine Spectator and Hachette and RVF Meilleurs vins de France.
Château de Chantegrive is run today by a new generation of the Lévêque family. François, Marie-Hélène, Patrice and Agnès Lévêque, the couple's children, are now at the head of the estate. They benefit from the expert advice of a leading Bordeaux winemaker, Hubert de Boüard, who also owns Château Angélus, a prestigious wine estate in Saint-Émilion.
The vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir in every respect: a clay-limestone subsoil serves as the bedrock for a soil made up of a mixture of sand of varying sizes and coarse gravel. With its perfect south-facing exposure for the vines, it offers highly favorable conditions for producing exceptional wines. The vineyard is dominated by Merlot, complemented by classic Bordeaux varieties: Semillon, Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon. The entire estate is managed according to the principles of sustainable agriculture.
Château de Chantegrive is a charming Bordeaux in the Graves appellation. The nose is fruity, with notes of vanilla and spices. The palate is full-bodied, with a long, fruity finish. Château de Chantegrive, Caroline Blanc is made from a blend of Sauvignon and Sémillon grapes. It's one of the estate's great successes, an emblematic cuvée that has won numerous awards. It reveals a rich aromatic bouquet, combining vanilla, almond, lime blossom and hints of fresh butter.
