The winemaker
The domain
The village of Montagne is at the heart of an exceptional wine-growing area, with 12 renowned appellations of the Grand Saint-Emilionnais. Vines have been cultivated here for centuries.
Florence Galande bought Château de Coucy in 2017 and immediately embarked on major investments. Her ambition is to produce vintages in line with the property's great reputation. The estate consists of 20 hectares cultivated using integrated farming methods, and has received HVE certification for its practices that respect nature and biodiversity.
The clay-limestone soils benefit from full southern exposure and an oceanic climate, with rather mild temperatures and high rainfall. Two emblematic Bordeaux grape varieties are grown on the vineyard, Merlot is overwhelmingly in the majority, representing 85% of the vines and Cabernet Sauvignon completes the vineyard.
Major renovations to the production tools have been carried out since the estate was acquired in 2017, and the estate now boasts brand-new viticultural facilities with a refurbished vat room, a state-of-the-art vinification cellar and another for ageing. For all that, practices remain those inherited from the Bordeaux winemaking traditions for which the region's wines are renowned.
The wines
The Château Coucy is a Bordeaux that perfectly expresses the incredible richness of this great terroir. It's a generous, elegant wine with a brilliant color. Made with a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers aromas of blackcurrant mixed with vanilla, licorice and spicy notes. The nose is intense and the palate greedy, with a light acidity that balances the whole.
The Triple V selection was created by Florence Galande, from a rigorous plot selection, and is available in three cuvées.
The Bordeaux blanc Triple V is an intense, round-mouthed wine, 100% Sauvignon Blanc. It offers a complex aromatic palette blending exotic fruit and citrus notes.
Triple V Blanc prestige is an elegant Bordeaux with a bright pale yellow hue. It's a balanced, expressive wine with a powerful nose of nougat and lime blossom aromas. The palate is balanced and pure, with finesse, floral and woody notes.
Triple V rosé is a fresh, fruity wine. The aromatic bouquet is bewitching, with notes of peach and hints of citrus. The finish on the palate is slightly acidic, ending with raspberry aromas.
