The winemaker
The domain Château Clarke has its origins in the twelfth century when the Cistercian monks of the Abbey of Vertheuil implanted the first vines. Much later, the knight Tobie Clarke purchased the land that finally acquired its name in 1818. Then successive inheritances for sale, the property was bought in 1973 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild. At that time the vineyard abandonment was redesigned and was completely restored between 1974 and 1978 to reach a vineyard area of 54 hectares. Since 1997, Baron Benjamin de Rothschild and his wife Ariane infuse a dynamic team their passion for excellence in line with the vision of Baron Edmond de Rothschild.
