The winemaker
A singular history, intimately tied to that of Le Star House
Passionate about wine and known for having accomplished an excellent professional career in the luxury industry, Guillaume Brochard, concretizes a passion that has animated him for years and decides to reconvert in order to assemble the activities of different houses to create a trading activity under the sign Maison Le Star. This trading name includes Châteaux Cazeau and Giraudot and La Guyennoise. His main objective is to produce accessible, entry-level branded wines and thus reach a wide audience. For him, the wealth of French vintages is comparable to a constellation composed of thousands of stars.
Maison le Star has the will to respond to the aspirations, the dreams, the star of each and every one and to touch as much the amateurs as the fine wine connoisseurs. Thus, Château Cazeau, an ancient property dating back to 1560, is fully in line with this dynamic instilled by Maison Le Star of which it is a part.
Specificity of the terroir of Château Cazeau
Located in New Aquitaine, in Gornac, a few kilometers east of Sauveterre de Guyenne, Château Cazeau has a vineyard of more than 300 hectares where the vines flourish on clay-limestone slopes at an altitude of 110 meters, facing due south. Château Cazeau is, in its own way, part of an ecological approach to sustainable development. Indeed, the winemakers use traditional winemaking methods: controlled extraction and temperature control. It is indeed more and more important to adopt little by little responsible farming methods, to take care of the earth and to orient practices towards a reasoned viticulture, respectful of people and the environment.
Finally, we can observe that the privileged grape varieties of Château Cazeau are Merlot (50%) as well as Cabernet Sauvignon (50%).
An international deployment
The main objective of the house was to make wines accessible to everyone by producing mainly entry-level wines. However, as of 2017, the teams began to develop premium wines. Indeed, Maison le Star had the will to develop several ranges in order to ship and promote its wines from different properties, such as Chateau Cazeau, internationally.
Married to a Chinese designer named Jiang Quiong, Guillaume Bochard in particular has the determination to import his wines to Shanghai, thus strengthening the trade between France and China.
