The winemaker
We find the presence of vineyards on our hills, in a place called Drouilleau from the late Middle Ages, but in the eighteenth century were built the buildings we occupy today, and then took the name of " Drouilleau field. " The archives scattered over the estate and owner changes will allow us to go much beyond the mid-nineteenth century .. In 1989 is created the Civil Society Operating Château Belles Graves, directed by Xavier Piton, small Hermine Theallet son who takes the land leased and now provides their operation. The vines are enlarged 2.5 hectares. In 1995 creations GFA Theallet Piton to consolidate the integrity of the field between the different family members. Marie France Theallet Christine Piton and children Xavier Piton, Piton Aurélien Marie-Aimée Piton are shareholders. Situated on a gravelly facing south, the Château Belles-Graves offers visitors one of the most beautiful views on the Barbanne valley, bordering Pomerol. The beautiful Chartreuse U eighteenth century would say sheltered Prosper Mérimée, and more recently, regularly hosted a famous family member, Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau, wine connoisseur. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of sustainable agriculture. The soil is mechanically maintained (plowing, scratch marks); Mechanical harvesting is for the younger plots and manual for older plots. Each plot is harvested according to its optimum maturity. After a traditional vinification in thermo concrete vats with long maceration wines are aged for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels renewed by thirds every year.
