The winemaker
Terroir and vineyard characteristics
The brothers Guilhem and Armailhac were the first owners of the estate in 1680. Château Armailhac achieved 5ᵉ Grand Cru status in 1855. This landmark in the Pauillac appellation now belongs to the Rothschild family. The vineyard, set in the heart of a prestigious park, extends over 50 hectares. The vines grow on clay-limestone soil, giving them their distinctive fine, elegant flavor. The blend comprises 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 11% Cabernet France and 2% Petit Verdot.
The estate's wines
The domaine's wines incorporate the estate's traditional winemaking methods: the berries are transported in mobile vats to the tanks for up to 15 to 20 days. This is to preserve their flavor and integrity. Château Armailhac is the estate's one and only product. Each vintage has its own characteristic notes. The 2014 vintage, for example, stands out for its intense color and strongly flavored red fruit notes. With the 2020 vintage, freshness and power are the order of the day!
