The winemaker
The Château de Malmaison vineyard is one of the oldest of the Medoc. Indeed, since the Middle Ages, the vine was planted by different owners, mainly by significant religious community. Adjacent to the Château Clarke, the 24 hectares of Château Malmaison were abandoned when the Baron Edmond de Rothschild made its acquisition in 1973. That year, we could only identify one hectare of vines. The vineyard is totally redesigned and replanted between 1974 and 1978. The vineyard stretches back over 24 hectares of clay and limestone outcropping limestone, soil conducive to the expression of the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1997, the Baroness Nadine de Rothschild continues the history of the property in accordance with the wish of her husband, entrusting the direction of the field Yann Buchwalter which uses its expertise to develop a high quality wine. Since 2007, the Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild, the domain administrator, told the exclusive distribution France and UK Malmaison Castle, the House Kressmann.
