Jean-claude chanudet, alias le chat, belongs to the first generation of "nature" wine producers, along with foillard, descombes and lapierre. For him, mastery is combined with authenticity. After a first career in bottling, this winegrower's son took over his father-in-law's estate in 1989. His aim is to make the most of the old vines with his good farming sense, his free and precise winemaking sensibility, long macerations and ageing in old barrels. The style is brilliant, precise and gives the wines an unsuspected capacity for ageing. domaine chamonard's morgon is made from old gamay vines planted on the clos des lys plot and vinified in the most natural way possible by jean-claude chanudet. The nose reveals delicious notes of blackcurrant, plum, flowers, red fruit, dark chocolate and spices. The palate is concentrated and velvety, with ripe tannins and incredible freshness for the vintage. A great wine!
