Maison PironEstimated delivery between 26 and Dec 28,
Dominique Piron's Morgon Côte du Py 2017 features in Wine Spectator magazine's Top 100 best wines in the world. The Morgon cru is located in the hills of the Villié Morgon commune in northern Beaujolais. The climate is continental, and the small plots from which this wine comes benefit from a southeasterly exposure overlooking the Saône valley. At an altitude of 200-300 meters, these 50+ year-old vines flourish on subsoils of old disintegrated granite, rich in iron oxide. Aged 30% in wood, foudres and barrels to bring out the fullness of the wine.
Appearance
Dark garnet color.
Aroma
Aromas and flavors of stone fruit, especially cherry, and even kirsch with age. Well-structured, mineral wines with good ageing potential.
Wine Mineral
Taste
Gourmand and fruity on the palate, full-bodied, with tannins that are still present but mellow, and a lovely persistent freshness. An elegant wine.
