The winemaker

The story of Le Basty began under Louis XI, on November 24, 1482, when Jean Varenard, the first generation, acquired a few tenements of vines with ideal exposure at a place called "le Billy". The estate is located in the upper part of the Lantignié commune. Gradually built up over the centuries by successive generations, the winery and the land are mostly in a single block. The 17 hectares of vines are spread over the great terroirs of Lantignié, Régnié and Morgon. Whether blended or isolated, depending on the year, the cuvées, vinified with indigenous yeasts, express the typicity of the different soils that our family has cultivated for five centuries: Py de Buillat, Colette, Monterniers, Basty and Souzon. 3/4 of the estate is certified organic, and 1/4 is in conversion. We would be delighted to show you around the estate, subject to availability and by appointment.
