The winemaker
Located in the commune of La Chapelle de Guinchay, Château Bonnet is a 20-hectare wine estate producing Moulin à Vent, Chénas, Saint Amour, Juliénas and Beaujolais appellations. The domaine's range includes red, rosé and white wines, as well as a Crémant de Bourgogne.
The origins of Château Bonnet date back to 1630, when the building was constructed by Claude Bonnet, then Échevin in Mâcon. Pierre and Monique Perrachon bought the Château in 1973. Winegrowers for generations since the 17th century, the Perrachon family brings its expertise, know-how and passion for a job well done to this great terroir.
Pierre-Yves Perrachon, their son, began working on the estate alongside his parents in 1985. His wife joined him in 1996, and they expanded the estate in 2006 with the purchase of the Saint Amour vineyard on the Côte de Besset. Their daughter Charlotte joined them in 2014, followed by their son Julien in 2018. Charlotte brings to Château Bonnet her experience working with winemakers abroad and in France, as well as her skills as an oenologist. Julien took on the role of vineyard manager 3 years ago and is leading the conversion of the vineyard to organic farming.
Efforts to implement responsible practices have been rewarded with the award of the Terra Vitis label in 2013 and Haute Valeur Environnementale HVE in 2019. The team is also working towards AB certification.
Indeed, the vines are cared for using the most natural methods possible. Flower strips have been planted to encourage biodiversity, inputs have been reduced and weeding is carried out mechanically. In the same vein, the soil is worked sparingly to avoid disturbing the microbial balance of the soil and to promote harmony between the vines and their environment.
Agricultural work is determined above all by observation of the vineyard, respecting the specific features of each plot, and this rigor is also applied to the work carried out in the winery. Fermentations are scrupulously monitored to allow each vintage to express its full potential.
Chat'au Bonnet comes in all three colors. The red is a fresh, very fruity wine with blackberry and blackcurrant aromas and a supple mouthfeel.
Moulin à Vent is made from 100% Gamay old vines. The cuvée is aged for a year in concrete vats and offers a nose in the fruit, with marked aromas of cherry and notes of violets and kirsch.
Beaujolais village Blanc is a 100% Chardonnay white wine from the "En Pérelle" parcels. The nose offers gourmet aromas of brioche, almonds and white fruit. The palate is fresh and round, with light nuances of toasted dried fruit.
Crémant de Bourgogne is a 100% Chardonnay Blanc de Blanc offering an aromatic palette blending citrus, white flowers and mineral notes. The bubbles are fine and the whole is fresh and elegant.
