In a few words ...

A native of Pouilly, whose parents were promoters, Alexandre bain was born without vines. In 2007, he set up on 5 hectares of land in the Boisfleury area (clay-limestone) and signed his first vintage that same year. He owes his love of the land to his farmer grandfather. He combines it with his other passion, animal traction, as he ploughs part of his vineyard on horseback. A follower of biodynamic viticulture, he harvests ripe Sauvignons, barrel-aged with very little sulfur. Neither yeasted, nor chaptalized, nor filtered, his wines claim to be natural and are golden, generous, sometimes more accomplished on the palate than on the nose. In 2014, Pouilly-fumé withdrew the appellation from alexandre bain's wines, which undoubtedly stand out too much in the midst of the self-satisfied formatting that serves as the sole horizon for so many local winemakers. No matter, a new star has been born, and we predict that his reputation will grow and grow... just like that of the appellation.
