The winemaker

Clos Sainte Apolline Bollenberg produces a great wine with a long-established reputation in Alsace... The Bollenberg estate is located between Rouffach and Guebwiller. The Bollenberg is the largest limestone hill in the Rouffach canton. The family estate dates back to 1887. In 1945, the Clos returned to the Meyer family and became a fully-fledged winegrowing estate in the sense that the family decided to produce quality wines in order to preserve Alsace's cultural identity. This approach has given Le Clos a long-established reputation and a rigorous mastery of the art of winemaking. he vineyard covers 25 hectares, with yields ranging from 35 to 65 hectolitres per hectare. To this is added the experience of three generations. When wine is a passion within a family, one of the most important aspects of sustainable development is created: the promotion of a terroir product. This logic is part of a reasoned vineyard production that respects the evolution of the vines. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the wines are matured in wooden tuns, using traditional methods without neglecting the progress made in winemaking and sales. These are just a few aspects of our commitment to preserving the identity and authenticity of the Bollenberg site.
