The winemaker
A story of respect and passion
Since 1955, the Cave de Turckheim has brought together winegrowers proud of their terroirs, and renowned for their demanding work. Over the past 60 years, the cooperative's sphere of action has grown and refined, thanks to a passionate collective effort.
Vineyards typical of an ancestral terroir
Turckheim's geographical location is renowned for its richness and privileged aspect. Indeed, at the junction of the Munster Valley and the Alsace plain, the hillsides benefit from an extraordinarily mild climate, and a multitude of soils and lieux-dits giving the local grape varieties distinctive characteristics. Three grands crus belong to the cooperative: Brand, Hengst and Sommerberg, particularly favorable to Riesling and Pinot gris.
The cooperative's wines
The cooperative has long been able to take advantage of the Alsatian terroir, through carefully selected production. Traditional Alsatian wines rub shoulders with "reserve" wines, dedicated to gastronomy and more marked by siliceous terroirs. The "specialities" contain treasures that are unique to the Turckheim cellar and typical of the terroir. Terroir wines express the quintessence of a particular climate. The Grands Crus are true to what they should be, and hold a special place in Turckheim. The cellar also honors the Crémant d'Alsace, those much-appreciated fine bubbles. Finally, the cellar honors late harvest wines, a demanding Alsatian tradition that produces exceptional nectars.
