The winemaker

The history of Cave de Beblenheim

The Cave Vinicole de Beblenheim was founded in 1952. A handful of winegrowers wanted to pool their equipment and know-how to optimize the quality of their production. They worked so well together that they received their first gold medal two years later.

Since then, the success of the Cave de Beblenheim has never wavered. Today, it ranks sixth among Alsace's vineyards, with 180 members and 430 hectares of vines in Beblenheim and several surrounding communes.

La Cave de Beblenheim sells its wine to private individuals and professionals, who can visit the winery and take part in a tasting session. The wines are sold throughout France, as well as abroad. 35% of production is exported to countries all over the world, including the Netherlands, Great Britain, Switzerland, Belgium, the United States, Canada and Australia. All Cave de Beblenheim winegrowers apply the requirements of integrated viticulture.

Cave de Beblenheim grape varieties

The Beblenheim cooperative vinifies a large production spread over five communes. It offers four grands crus from Beblenheim and neighboring communes. Its brands are Baron de Hoen and Heimberger.

Given its vast surface area and the large number of growers, Cave de Beblenheim's production is extremely varied. You'll find dry and sweet wines, as well as crémants.

The main grape varieties represented are Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Pinot blanc, Riesling, Crémant, Pinot d'Auxerrois and Sylvaner.

Cave de Beblenheim wines

AOC Alsace Gewurztraminer

From the marl-clay-limestone soil of the Beblenheim commune, Gewurztraminer is a very fruity white wine, but also highly identifiable by its spice and rose aromas. It's a balanced, elegant wine with rich, full-bodied, persistent flavors.

This wine should be drunk chilled, between 8 and 12°C, and rather young, between 2 and 4 years. It's a delicious accompaniment to aperitifs and cheese platters. It is also an excellent companion for exotic cuisine, particularly Asian.

AOC Crémant d'Alsace Brut Rosé

Crémant d'Alsace Brut Rosé is made from grapes grown in the stony, sandy, limestone soil around the commune of Beblenheim. It is produced by Champagne-style pressing. It is vinified using the traditional method, without malolactic fermentation, and stored on laths for 18 months before riddling.

Crémant rosé has a pretty, soft pink color and produces a delicate froth of fine bubbles. Aromas of cherry and raspberry dominate, and its length on the palate is exceptional.

Ideal for aperitifs and fruit desserts, Crémant rosé should be served at a temperature of 8°C. It can be kept for up to 5 years.
