One of the pioneers of "natural" wines in France, the domaine has been organic since 1970. With the help of his wife Chantal and son Thomas, Jean Pierre Frick vinifies a large proportion of his cuvées without sulfur. His practice of maceration is the house signature. This style is particularly suited to the Grand Cru Vorbourg, a soil dominated by marl, limestone and sandstone. Since 2002, all wines have been bottled in stainless steel capsules. Domaine Pierre Frick's Riesling Rot Murlé comes from vines planted on brown limestone-ferruginous soil on a hard limestone slab at the top of a hill overlooking the plain. The vines are cultivated biodynamically. Whole bunches macerate for eight days before pressing. The grapes are pressed whole in a pneumatic press. The wines are not chaptalized, and ferment with their indigenous yeasts. Aged on fine lees in century-old oak tuns for eleven months, no sulfites are added. Unfined, the wines are filtered on cellulose plates before bottling, at the end of August 2019, also without the addition of sulfite. The nose of this wine reveals delicious notes of candied lemon,
