In a few words ...

From the Brand to the Heimbourg, crossing the Clos Jebsal, you can see the radical changes in surface soils between these three terroirs, which are very close. In Alsace, the fault lines run north-south as well as east-west, unlike in Burgundy, for example, which means that Alsace's geology is much more fragmented. Clos Jebsal is surrounded by two fault lines, forming a small triangle of 1.3ha, and bounded at the base by the Alsace plain. Facing south, terraced on a steep slope, Jebsal is situated on a marl-limestone substrate (gypsum) from the Triassic period. The precociousness of the terroir contrasts with the cold, deep soil, resulting in significant noble rot development every year. We've been producing VT and/or SGN here since 1990! In 2010, we produced this late harvest as well as a very rich SGN.
