In a few words ...

Pinot-Gris is a grape variety that only becomes complex and ages well if it comes from a terroir capable of giving the wine an acid balance while facilitating good physiological ripeness. Like its cousin Pinot-Noir, this grape variety quickly loses its potential when the yield per vine increases too much. Calcareous geological series are our preferred choice for this grape variety. With the exception of Herrenweg and Rangen (a fine exception), all our Pinot-Gris are planted on limestone or marl-limestone formations. This wine could come from several terroirs, but in 2013, all the grapes came from our young Windsbuhl vines. Harvested 10 days earlier than the old vines, the grapes were healthy and gained in freshness.

Tasting notes

Appearance

Pale yellow color

Aroma

The nose is already very elegant, marked by aromas of fresh fruit (pear, quince, vine peach) and the classic expression of the grape variety (toasted, grilled, smoky...).

Wine Fruity | Spicy

Taste

The effect of the limestone can be tasted on the palate with a fine texture and good ripe acid support. Although it has a little residual sugar, the finish is clean and almost dry. This wine will evolve very well.

Wine Elégant | Fumé | Rond
