In a few words ...

The Riesling Grand Cru Brand Vendange Tardive comes mainly from the Schneckelsbourg part of the Brand, to the east of the Grand Cru and just above the Clos Jebsal. On the surface, the soil is identical to that of the rest of the Grand Cru: biotite granite. At depth, however, only accessible to old vines, are layers of calcareous marl. This small detail slightly changes the profile of the wine and explains why Rieslings from Schnekelsbourg are often more powerful and develop noble rot more easily. This part of the Brand also retains good acidity, which is essential in the production of sweet wines. Fermentation, which was very slow, took place in two stages, eventually going further than expected. The final balance is based on remarkable acidity and discreet residual sugar.

Tasting notes

Aroma

The nose expresses a very strong sensation of minerality, stone and delicate white flowers. Noble rot is in retreat in this wine, making it almost impossible to detect its power on the nose.

Wine Mineral

Taste

The palate is firm, with a dense, racy structure. Structured acidity immediately takes hold of the palate, barely revealing the significant residual sugars.
