The history of Windsbuhl dates back to the 14th century, when the property belonged to the Habsburgs of Austria-Hungary. At the time, the vineyard was part of a hunting lodge (Erlach). The vines are located above the village of Hunawihr on a small 6.5-hectare limestone hillock facing south to east, on a medium to steep slope. Windsbuhl is a very late-ripening terroir, which explains the acid structure and delicacy of the wines. The limestone brings race and power. Gewurztraminer was not an obvious choice for this terroir, due to its fragility to the vagaries of the weather during flowering, but it finds remarkable expression here. The 2013 harvest was fairly healthy, with little noble rot and a good balance between ripeness and acidity, which explains the presence of residual sugar.
Aroma
Elegant, fresh nose, revealing intense fruity aromas (exotic fruit, citrus, etc.) and a light, complex floral touch without excess.
Wine Fruity
Taste
Very delicate on the palate, perfectly integrating the residual sugars, which appear almost light on the finish. Likewise, the tannic richness is integrated and brings a saline sensation.
