The winemaker
Winegrowers from father to son for 6 generations, the Frey-Sohler company vinifies and distributes wines from the Sohler family vineyards in Scherwiller. The estate is built on very distinct geological contexts:
- the Graves de Scherwiller: these gravels give rise to the famous "Scherwiller" communal appellation. This communal appellation, 100% Riesling, is distinguished by a very floral, even muscatel nose, and a dry palate with a lemony finish.
- Rittersberg: this large, two-mica granite terroir offers wines with a mineral character, more austere in youth, but producing great wines for laying down.
- Grand Cru Frankstein: this terroir lies on a two-mica granite arena. The FRANKSTEIN soil is light, stony and sandy. This terroir gives the wines their characteristic fine minerality. They express a very straight, rising acidity that sublimates the finish. These elements enable the wine to express a particular finesse, complexity and balance.
