Almaviva - epu 2019viña almaviva is located in puente alto, in the maipo valley, in central chile. In 1997, baroness philippe de rothschild (chairman of the advisory board of baron philippe de rothschild sa) and eduardo guilisasti tagle (president of viña concha y toro sa) signed a partnership agreement to create an exceptional french-chilean wine called almaviva. Almaviva was the first wine in Chile to be created under the concept of a French chateau, taking into account an exceptional terroir, a unique bodega and a technical team. The vineyards extend over 60 hectares and benefit from the cool climatic influence of the Andean cordillera, which manifests itself in the form of fresh breezes and a wide temperature oscillation between day and night. These conditions favor long, homogeneous development of the grapes, together with more pronounced acidity, fresh red fruit and a higher concentration of color and aroma in the bunches. The estate is planted with five distinct grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmotte Noir, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Cabernet Sauvignon is by far the most widely grown, as it is particularly well adapted to the puente alto terroir.epu, the name of almaviva's second wine, means « two » in the language of the mapuche, one of the main indigenous cultures of southern chile. The symbol is a reference to the tupu, an ornament that expresses fundamental aspects of the worldview of various ancient Andean civilizations. This is a Bordeaux-style blend in which Cabernet Sauvignon predominates.cépages: cabernet sauvignon-dominant
