Sarl Vignobles Alain JaumeEstimated delivery between Dec 30, and Jan 1,
GRAND VENDOR "Les Champauvins" represents 34 ha classified as Côtes du Rhône...but whose parcels are located on the northern edge of the Châteauneuf du Pape AOC. A small pebble path once served as the boundary between "Les Champauvins" and Châteauneuf du Pape. The subsoil consists of marine molasse and rolled pebbles (alpine diluvium). On the surface, the quantity of pebbles is impressive, as shown in the photo opposite. These pebbles accumulate heat during the day (a pebble in the sun reaches 55°C in summer) and release it to the vines at night. This source of heat enables the grapes to reach optimum ripeness. Traditional vinification in stainless steel vats with regular punching of the cap. 18-day vatting period. Grenache aged in vats and Syrah/Mourvèdre in 3-4 year-old oak barrels. Bottled after 12 months.
