In 2017, the Oddo family bought the legendary Cordoba estate in South Africa and renamed it Taaibosch. Here, winemaker Chris Keet produced "Crescendo", the country's most famous wine, exported worldwide and considered the South African rival to Saint-Émilion's famous "Cheval Blanc"! The estate ceased operations in 1997, and it wasn't until 20 years later, under the Oddo family, that this illustrious cuvée once again shone on the world wine scene. Schalk-Willem Joubert, oenologist and Bordeaux expert, advises the domaine with his great expertise. The 2018 vintage thus marks the rebirth of the great "Crescendo", and is the "discovery of the year" for renowned oenologist Tim Atkin, who awarded it 97 points! The South African Platter guide gives it 5 stars, its highest rating ever!
The new 'Crescendo' is a beautifully refined red wine from 21-year-old vines. Aromas of violets and freshly cut grass guide us to a fresh, bright palate with relatively low alcohol volume. Filigree tannins, a subtle woody dimension, fine tension and enough concentration and balance to age well.
