Domaine guiberteau - clos des carmes 2014the domaine is located 12 km south of saumur, in the village of saint-just-sur-dive, where the guiberteau family has lived since 1934. The estate, run by Romain Guiberteau since 1996, produces saumur appellation wines. Only two grape varieties are grown: cabernet franc and chenin. The vines are 5 years old and over 80 years old. The vineyard extends over 17 hectares, in the communes of bizay, brézé, chacé, montreuil bellay and saint-just-sur-dive. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 2003: the soil is worked under the rows and grassed naturally. All synthetic products are banned: only sulfur, copper, essential oils and plant extracts are used. The vines are hand-harvested, and the Clos des Carmes is barrel-aged, offering toasty notes that complement the floral and fruity character of chenin blanc. Decanting is recommended to release all the aromas.
