Lalande Pomerol wines are colorful, powerful and full-bodied. The best can rival Pomerol and Saint Emilion. The dominant grape variety is Merlot. The wines have a deep color and aromas of red and black berries, sometimes violet. They have an elegant, tannic structure and age well.
1978 was a fine, classic-style year in which vegetation took its time. As is often the case in vintages where the sunny autumn brings maturity, the wines were slow to open up.
