In a few words ...
The Denis Levraud family has been established in the Côtes de Bourg region for centuries. The Château de la Haute Libarde, a family heirloom for generations, sits on the second hillside of the Côtes de Bourg vineyards, overlooking the Gironde estuary. It was here that Denis Levraud drew his knowledge of the land. He loves the soil and the pebbles that make it up, and he's unbeatable when it comes to the subsoils of his estate, explaining the ins and outs of a unique soil that benefits from the micro-climate of the Bourg region. He heads the pedological commission of the appellation's winegrowers' union, in charge of soil analysis to help each winegrower optimize their production. The property's exposure and slopes, which are conducive to natural drainage, combined with the humidity provided by the estuary, give Haute Libarde wines their distinctive character. He is passionate about "cailloux" (stones); the rocks in his vineyard have already given him all their secrets, and he returns the favor, managing to extract the very best from his slopes through integrated viticulture, a fair return to the practices of his ancestors. Traditional Bordeaux vinification with natural alcoholic fermentation, temperature control, long vatting (18 days), 2 pump-overs per day during fermentation. These methods enable us to extract the very best from the grapes: color, aroma and structure.
