Lucien Guillemet, owner of Château Boyd-Cantenac, classified as a Margaux Third Growth, calls on no fewer than 4 grape varieties in this first wine: around 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, a quarter Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vines occupy a soil that suits them perfectly, with well-draining siliceous gravel. After hand-picking, the wine is vinified in stainless steel and cement vats, then aged for 12 to 18 months in merrain oak barrels, with a high proportion of new wood.
Appearance
Dense, dark garnet-red color, tending toward violet in its youth.
Aroma
In the Margaux appellation, black fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant, sometimes cooked, are combined with an empyreumatic quality that gives off hints of roasted coffee and licorice.

Taste
On the palate, the best Margaux wines are those that have perfectly integrated their tannins into their structure, giving them roundness. The nose's aromas of black fruit and tertiary flavors such as leather and vanilla are also present.
