Vacqueyras, a small village that gave its name to one of the five crus of the southern Rhône Valley in 1990, is located near the famous Gigondas and Beaumes de Venise. The appellation extends over soils of red clay and sand, which are covered with pebbles. This helps to reduce yields and produce grapes rich in aroma and color. The climate is both dry and hot, amplified by the effects of the Mistral wind.
