"the words of the bureau interprofessionnel des vins de bourgogne (bivb) on the 2018 vintage leave no room for doubt: the wines of this year should belong to a "very great year".for the whites, the bivb announces wines with very beautiful aromatic complexity, explosive on the nose, whose diversity of aromas incredibly well reflects that of each terroir.as for the reds, they are structured and powerful, with coated tannins, again according to the bivb. savigny-les-beaune blancthe white wines of savigny come from so-called "white" soils, which are partly marly. Only 5% of Savigny's vineyards are planted with white wine grapes (mainly Chardonnay). The best sites are at the entrance to the village, on a slightly sloping hillside facing north (les saucours), and at the exit of the village towards bouilland, on a hillside facing south (les vermots). Savigny-les-beaune whites are well-structured, dry, fairly round wines with a lovely golden-green color. Chardonnay, the main grape variety, contributes roundness, aromas and finesse. Pinot Blanc (around 10%) adds a vinous touch, with a lovely pale yellow color and crystalline brilliance. This white Burgundy is characterized by its freshness, balance and roundness on the palate. It's a wine with lots of sparkle, presenting aromas of white flowers, hawthorn, acacias with lightly lemony mineral notes."
