The winemaker

This very young brand (2021 is their first vintage) is the latest initiative of four well-known professionals (Martin Shaw, Michael Hill-Smith MW, Adam Wadewitz, David Le Mire MW, i.e. MMAD) behind the Shaw & Smith (Adelaide Hills) and Tolpuddle (Tasmania) estates, two references in their region. In McLaren Vale, they have set their sights on highly promising vineyards planted with old vines in the Blewitt Springs area, where the iron-rich sandy soils, the altitude (250 m) and the sea breezes blowing in from the Saint-Vincent golf course combine to create a happy alchemy. The short range makes the most of very old Grenache (over 80 years old), Syrah and Chenin Blanc, the oldest vines of which were planted in 1941 and 1964. From the very first vintage, both white and red wines display exceptional fullness and aromatic power, which impressed us.
