The winemaker

François and his brother Jacques began making wine in Argentina in 1992. After much research, they found a terroir worthy of their wishes in the Upper Uco Valley, a place of majestic beauty at the foot of the Andes. They analyzed the soil and asked their father, André Lurton, a Bordeaux winemaker, to come and confirm their choice. They made the connection with the soils of Pessac Léognan, the white wine appellation of Bordeaux, on which the family châteaux of La Louvière and Couhins Lurton are located. True pioneers, they embarked on a new adventure, buying 200 hectares of virgin land in 1996. The vineyard lies in the Alta Uco Valley, at an altitude of 1100 m, in the hills at the foot of the Andes: a magical setting for the vineyard, especially when the mountains are covered in snow. It is located in the Mendoza region, 80 km southwest of Mendoza, in the Tunuyan district, near the town of Vista Flores. 136 hectares of vineyards. The vineyard was planted in the late 90s and the average age of the vines is around 15 years; it is divided between Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon with a majority of Pinot Gris.
